dc.description.abstract | The study examined procurement management practices as a tool in ensuring value for money in Ghana’s MMDAs using Ho Municipality as a case study. Mixed method was used to collect both quantitative and qualitative data from respondents. The study employed purposive and stratified random sampling techniques to select five (5) departments (Procurement, Store, Account, Internal Audit and Works) within Ho Municipal Assembly. Simple random sampling was used to select a sample size of thirty (30) participants. All over the world, both advance and developing nations have had their fair share of losing enormous sums of money in the face of limited economic resources as a result of bad procurement decision. The findings of the Ghana audit service year after year has revealed a lot of procurement bridges across the MMDAs in Ghana, in some case a total disregard for procurement procedures. The major challenge confronting the procurement entity is identified as interference from interest groups such as top management members and political office holders. The MMDAs must adopt an institutional structure changes that favor and support the need for excellence best practices in realizing cost effectiveness with limited resources in the management of all purchasing within the MMDAs. | en_US |
