Abstract: This paper traces the history of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Library from its inception in 1993 to its present status after twenty years of existence. The important role the UDS Library has played in the enhancement of information provision in supporting teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination of the University and the assistance to the surrounding communities, the region and the nation as a whole are highlighted. Challenges encountered and how they were surmounted are also discussed extensively. The paper relies heavily on historical documentation and recollections of personal experiences of people associated with the University and the Library. Achievements chalked have been discussed and recommendations proffered on the way forward.
